Fashions Finest is an organisation which offers opportunities to up and coming designers in the UK and abroad. Each year the fashion show provides an opportunity for designers to showcase their work and allows enthusiastic audience members a glimpse of the latest trends.

When the Director of Fashions Finest approached us, there were very specific requirements which needed to be adhered to. The lighting and catwalk runway were two of the most important elements of the event, hence the options for these aspects were discussed in detail with the client.

The brief was to improve the overall room specification and put on a great show for the press, other designers and fashionistas attending. Rehearsals were particularly important for this fashion event. Our technicians had access to the venue from midnight, which allowed sufficient time overnight for the audio visual equipment set up. This is also meant that the client had enough hours to rehearse and complete a run through with our technicians and their models.

The client wanted a low runway, so our technicians suggested implementing a runway consisting of 2m x 1m stage decks, with all stage legs removed to give the runway a lowered height of just 3”- 4”. This staging was covered in white vinyl adhesive in keeping with the all white theme for the runway and specifically aided the photographers with their photo editing after the event.

The truss structure ran the entire length of the runway with 36 chrome par cans and four Source 4 JNR lighting fixtures attached to the main trussing directly pointing at the runway to keep it clearly lit. Our technicians controlled the lighting throughout the show using a DC-8 transcension 8 channel DMX lighting controller. To create some further ambience within the room, 12 Slim Par Pro LED Uplighters were used in the client’s choice of colour purple and were positioned around the room.

Branding was an integral part of the event, so our team had two printed adhesive stickers of the brand logo placed strategically across the 4’ flat set panel, underneath two 4.8k projector images.

The event sound system was made up line array speakers & subwoofers, which allowed for clear sound to be heard from the background music throughout the event. Speeches, comments and announcements were important during the show. Together with the sound system, several handheld microphones allowed for an elegant solution for the presenter, judges and designers to speak to the audience.

A Panasonic camcorder with tripod stand was used to record the event, with the live feed sent to a 42” LED screen, positioned within the backstage area. This allowed for a consistent flow throughout the event allowing the Back Of House Manager to monitor the timings of the models on and off the stage. Branding was an integral part of the event. Our team organised two prints of the brand logo placed strategically across the 4’ flat set panel underneath two projector screens. Two 4.8K projectors were used for a sharper and brighter image with each being flown from the truss to continuously project the main sponsors logos throughout the show.

Post-event the client has spoken to our team to express how she was particularly impressed by how the audio visual set up helped utilise the event space extremely well and all concerns from her previous audio visual suppliers were overcome. The client has confirmed she would like to work with London Audio Visual again for the September show and likewise we cannot wait to contribute to such a fantastic fashion event again.
